“A picture is worth a thousands words”.
Photos are little snapshots of our past, frozen into the present. They enable us to remember moments with special people or significant places forever. As the iconic American photographer Dorothea Lange once said, “photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still”.
According to Merriam-Webster, photography is the art or process of producing images by the action of radiant energy and especially light on a sensitive surface (as film or an optical sensor). The definition of a photographer is the one who practices photography.
It is interesting though, because when I think of what a photographer does it is so much more than what this technical definition gave it. A good photographer is able to see inside a situation, notice what is most important about that instant and snap it quickly before it goes away. There is this whole side that is creative and insightful and thoughtful. This is where the job of a photographer comes to another level, the matter of the heart. Photographers have to know all the technical skills so that their photos are beautiful and captivating, but they also have to have that instinct about what they are taking a picture of. A softer side, what is actually the material that makes those pictures so worthwhile. For example, a bride on her wedding day, a mother watching her newborn yawn and stretch or even a shot of a sunset just as it is about to peak and change the sky to a colorful canvas. To be able to “see” those significant life seconds and record it is the crux of it all. As Evin Krehbiel of Evin Photography says, “it’s in the simple moments we can see love from a new angle”.
Evin is the vibrant and creative force behind the lens of Evin Photography . She enters a room, or a shoot, with a smile and an energy that radiates joy to those around her. Evin has built a reputation of bringing talent and expertise to each of her sessions where her clients feel at ease and excited about the outcome of the experience. She simply captures the heart of whomever or whatever she is photographing.
As a graduate of journalism and mass communications from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, Evin also had the experience of working an internship at the well known lifestyle magazine Southern Living . She took as many classes and activities as possible to educate herself about her craft and the things that interested her most. Evin also gained a strong understanding of how a business is run by working at a growing recruiting firm in their marketing department. These experiences have all shaped this super creative and business minded photographer into taking a dream into a reality. As Evin says, “I have always loved photography, and when you love something that self-discipline comes easy cause you love what you are doing.”
Evin Photography is growing and evolving as Evin keeps challenging herself. She still loves photographing weddings and families but she has found herself reaching beyond and stretching what her camera can snap. Evin has currently partnered with the popular author, entertaining stylist and blogger of Pizzazzerie, Courtney Whitmore. Together they have created a coffee table party book that will be released in Fall of 2017. Evin has also been working with interior decorators and designers, and shooting design spaces. She is learning and enjoying be creative in this different light. Photography is in Evin’s heart and as Fabienne Fredrickson a personal and business coach said once, “the things you are passionate about are not random. They are your calling”. This is definitely the case for Evin Photography.
What this bright photographer sees through her camera lens is a gift. Evin is taking this gift and using it to educate others through workshops that she offers for moms. On March 4, 2017, Evin is holding a “mom’s with cameras” workshop. It is to help moms learn and feel comfortable using their cameras, and maybe also encourage them to discover a new hobby that they become passionate about. We need to remember that we all have gifts we can share and learn from one another. How fun to uncover a new skill or passion we have within ourselves!
The gal behind the lens of Evin Photography is balancing a lot in the busy life she leads. As a mom to three active kids, wife and small business owner, Evin is constantly doing the juggling game. She says she reminds herself often that, “its not never, just not right now”. That’s good advice to remember in a world where life seems to only get more hectic.
Photography is more than a person taking a picture, it is about an artist catching a fleeting moment. This artist has that intuition and keen eye to fill a frame with the best of whatever her canvas is for that day. Evin lights the world with her talent and sweet soul one picture at a time.
