Growing up, whenever we had a family function or get together, someone would bring a pound cake. A rich, spongy cake consisting of eggs, butter, flour and sugar, this dessert is a definite crowd pleaser. It is probably so popular to share with others because it is super simple to make, pretty to look at and travels well.
I have to admit, when Elizabeth Sweatt shared her chocolate chip pound cake recipe, I jumped at the chance to try this one! I might have even squealed a little. Y’all, I love a good pound cake! Elizabeth said how much she loves to cook for her kids and their friends, and this recipe happens to be her son’s favorite. Elizabeth said, “if you feed them, they will come”. What wise words for a mom to hear, especially one that loves to be in the kitchen!
I baked this chocolate chip pound cake for my family, and it was a hit by all! My kids enjoyed it too! I sliced it after it had cooled some, while the chocolate chips were slightly melted and the cake was still warm. Oh gracious! Did I mention how much I love cake?!
